Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
We are seeking skilled individuals to operate heavy machinery on construction sites. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for handling bulldozers, excavators, motor graders, and front-end loaders for the grade crew. The role requires flexibility to work outside the cab as needed to ensure efficient site operations.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy machinery such as dozers, excavators, and loaders to move earth, debris, and materials.
Utilize equipment for excavation and grading to dig, level, and grade land according to project specifications.
Prepare construction sites by clearing land, removing obstacles, and ensuring proper groundwork.
Handle materials efficiently, including loading, transporting, and distributing dirt, gravel, and rock.
Perform daily inspections, minor repairs, and routine maintenance to ensure machinery remains in optimal condition.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy equipment operation.
2-3+ years experience operating excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders.
Proficiency in grading, using dozers, excavators, and motor graders.
Familiarity with commercial construction and site development processes.
Comfortable working outside the cab occasionally.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with fine grading and rough grade operations.
Knowledge of operating vibratory rollers.

Work Environment
Work an average of 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm, with flexibility to work weekends depending on weather conditions. Operate across 15 job sites located in the Richmond Metro area, with the furthest being 45 minutes from Chester, VA.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
