Job Summary The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is seeking an individual to join our team as a Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee and complete housekeeping, laundry and other required cleaning assignments in the resident care or common areas of the Home. This position is responsible for: Exercise supervisory authority so that all staff in the work unit can effectively perform their assigned duties. Inspect assigned work areas to assure that Health Department Standards are met. Maintain good working relationships and an effective line of communication with Executive Housekeeper, co-workers, and customers. Assist the Executive Housekeeper in training of new resident employees and retraining of current employees, so that work procedures and proper use of supplies and equipment are followed by all employees so that the facility has a healthy, safe living and working environment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. One year of experience performing custodial or housekeeping work that demonstrates knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Experience as a supervisor, team lead, lead worker, or project lead sufficient to effectively supervise staff and oversee the work of contractors/vendors as required. Communication skills sufficient to ensure staff understand assigned tasks and to document and ensure compliance with housekeeping and laundry-related procedures. Basic computer skills to use email, word processing and spreadsheet software to correspond with others, keep records and write reports. Organizational and planning skills sufficient to plan, prioritize and complete work assignments in accordance with established time frames. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with MDVA leadership and staff, residents and their family members, vendors, and other clientele.
