Project Manager
Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects across the Lower Mainland. This role involves managing budgets, schedules, client relationships, and change orders while working closely with Site Superintendents. This is a permanent position with a strong emphasis on leadership, accountability, and local market knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project controls for construction projects, including forecasting, cost management, and contingency planning, to achieve project profitability.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Construction to discuss progress and conduct monthly project cost reviews and forecasts.
  • Provide technical direction during the pre-construction process for planning and estimating tasks, acting as a technical resource during construction.
  • Coordinate project team members and facilitate the execution of project contracts, liaising with legal counsel and Department Managers as appropriate.
  • Lead procurement activities for projects, including negotiations with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all components of front-end duties are completed before the project start date.
  • Submit progress billings timely and accurately, supporting receivables collections.
  • Work with on-site personnel to identify and resolve issues, ensure quality control, and support the overall project schedule and goals.
  • Create and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the project team.
  • Ensure required permits, licenses, and other work-related necessities are in place prior to project start-up.
  • Uphold project safety expectations while maintaining safety standards across all aspects of each project.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are achieved.
  • Report monthly project cost reviews and forecasts timely.
  • Develop and maintain successful client relationships.
  • Prepare and manage process change orders and extra work orders.
  • Organize and chair meetings with clients, architects, consultants, external stakeholders, and project team members.
  • Attend site meetings as required.
  • Manage project risk registers and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
  • Understand commercial aspects of contracts to protect company interests and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Manage resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, with attention to budgetary limitations.
  • Lead project closeout procedures, finalize contract paperwork, and work with management to resolve any project claims.
  • Lead project debrief cycles to review all aspects of project work and completion.
  • Set a productive, consistent, and professional work example while supporting company policies and core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability, and success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 510+ years of experience in civil construction project management.
  • Current functioning as a Project Manager.
  • Experience with underground utilities, excavation, and roadworks.
  • Strong familiarity with the Lower Mainland market, including local vendors, permitting processes, and municipal regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with HCSS HeavyJob, Spectrum (accounting), and MS Project.
  • Software training available if needed.
  • Strong project management fundamentals.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a flat organizational structure with shared accountability.

This role is office-based with occasional site visits required, overseeing up to three projects at a time. The work environment is characterized by a flat structure with quick decision-making and strong team collaboration. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
