Job Description:

The Cable Design Engineer is responsible fordeveloping and optimizing RF coaxial cable solutions for military, aerospace,wireless communications and industrial applications. The candidate will beresponsible for designing, evaluating, and improving cable products withdemanding mechanical and RF performance requirements.

Responsibilities

Apply materials knowledge and basic RF/microwave principles to designinnovative new cables employed in a wide range of applications and environments.Effectively and accurately review documents and correspondence relating tocustomer requirements and translate into new cable designs, material purchasingspecifications, and standard manufacturing instructions.Validate new and existing materials for impact to electrical, mechanical,and environmental cable performance.Maintain and control thorough and accurate documentation for cable designsand manufacturing.Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to refine cable designsfor cost-effectiveness and durability, and transition new cables intomanufacturing.Apply formal problem-solving techniques to determine root cause ofnon-conforming products or raw materials, and implement corrective andpreventative action (CAPA) plansIdentify and address opportunities to continuously improve our cables, rawmaterials and processes. Assess for regulatory, quality, cost, risk andenvironmental impact.Plan and execute cable performance evaluations using statistical techniquesincluding Design of Experiments (DoE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) toensure compliance to industry and Times Microwave standardsCreate procedures and provide training and coaching to other technical andmanufacturing employees.

Required Qualifications

BS or MS in mechanical, electrical or materials engineeringMinimum of 2 years of design or manufacturing engineering experienceFluent with cable manufacturing processes including wire drawing, braidingand shielding, taping and serving, extrusion, bunching, cabling and stranding.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Familiarity with Solid Works CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years of design or manufacturing engineering experienceThorough knowledge of material properties and processes.Experience with processing polymers and fluoropolymers.Experience with RF/microwave coaxial cable designs.

Up to 20% travel.
