Construction Manager Jobs in New York
A Construction Manager, also known as a Construction Project Manager, plays a pivotal role in the construction industry by overseeing and directing construction projects from the beginning to the end. Their responsibilities include planning, budgeting, coordinating, and supervising construction projects while ensuring that they are completed within the stipulated time and budget. They also ensure that safety standards and building regulations are met, resolve any issues or problems that may arise, and communicate with clients, architects, and subcontractors. They play a crucial role in decision-making and problem-solving, often acting as the link between different stakeholders.
Essential skills for a Construction Manager include strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and negotiation skills, good problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of the construction process and construction safety laws. They should also be adept at project management software and technologies. In terms of qualifications, a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is typically required. Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) can also be beneficial. Prior to becoming a Construction Manager, an individual could have roles such as Construction Supervisor, Project Engineer, or Assistant Construction Manager.
