Insulation Worker Jobs in New Jersey
Measure, cut, and install insulation in walls or ductwork to control temperature and noise level. Insulators must be competent at reading blueprints and specifications in order to identify the quantity and kind of material needed. Types of insulation include fiberglass, foam glass, mineral fibers, and synthetic rubber. The worker ensures that it is held in place properly by staples, tape, or screws, and surrounds it with plastic barriers to prevent water damage. Insulators may also be expected to remove and dispose of old insulation, spray insulation using compressors, and maintain records regarding completed jobs and inventory.
These workers use a wide range of implements, including simple ones such as knives or scissors and power tools like welders and staple guns. The exact supplies they need depend on the type of work being performed. A floor, ceiling, or wall insulation job may offer a choice between fiberglass and staples or spray foam, while mechanical insulation must be specifically compatible with the temperature, thickness, and diameter of the individual pipe.
