Lead Estimator

Hays is working with one of the top civil general contractors in the northeast to add a Lead Estimator to their team. The role pays $170k - $200k a year plus health/vision/dental, 401k, employee ownership in the company, and a yearly bonus. They would like to see this person move into being their next Chief Estimator. You would be bidding design build civil projects including roads, bridges, utilities, transit, and site work. The company self performs the majority of their work and has strong relationships with subcontractors around the city. Below are the responsibilities and qualifications for the role. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive estimates. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive bids. Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for estimates. Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes. Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software. Participate in pre-bid meetings and presentations. Provide support during contract negotiations and project planning phases. Monitor industry trends and developments to ensure competitive pricing. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 5 - 10 years of experience in construction estimating civil infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors. Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. Proficiency in HCSS and Microsoft Suite. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. #LI-DNI #1163378 - John Baxter
