The construction of fairlife's manufacturing facility in Webster, NY is underway. This state-of-the-art, 750k sq ft, greenfield plant is expected to be operational in late 2025 and will lay the foundation for fairlife's next phase of growth as the leading dairy nutrition provider. While coupling the industry's latest technologies and fairlife's operational excellence to build this world-class facility, fairlife plans to hire 250 new employees and bring in approximately 5 million lbs. of milk a day, with room to grow over the coming years.
job purpose: The Maintenance Technical Supervisors will be part of the management team within fairliife, LLC. reporting to the Maintenance Manager. The maintenance staff is tasked with the upkeep of buildings and grounds, processing, packaging, utility, and automated warehousing equipment needed to operate and maintain the facility.
Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Technical Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the work of assigned maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient equipment maintenance of the facility. The Maintenance Technical Supervisors will be responsible for the mechanical staff across multiple shifts and will work together to manage the teams' workloads.In addition, each Maintenance Technical Supervisor will be responsible for monitoring the maintenance strategy effectiveness of an area of the facility as assigned.
responsibilities:
Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of the maintenance mechanical personnel as assigned. Schedules maintenance employees according to forecasted workloads
Ensures adherence to company safety standards, policies, and procedures. Ensures maintenance staff correctly wears and uses safety equipment, as required. Also, ensures that all safety inspections are completed as required and as well as adherence to company policies.
Ensures the teams' adherence to customer service standards. Works with maintenance staff to ensure that production, processing and facility maintenance equipment issues are dealt with in a timely manner and that proper follow-through is done
Reviews the operation of plant equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and identify opportunities for improvement
Responsible for the safe maintenance, trouble shooting, root cause analysis, repair and replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum productivity and quality
Maintains systems for monitoring and tracking service requests, preventive maintenance work performed, compliance with Hazard Communications program requirements, compliance with safety requirements, supplies and parts inventories, purchases, and turn-key operations
Oversees and ensures the computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment is maintained and updated timely, accurately, and promptly
Keeps shop areas in a neat, well-stocked, clean, organized manner, per company visual control, audit ready standards and programs
Assists maintenance manager with yearly and monthly maintenance operating budgets in line with facility objectives. Assists with preparation of re-forecasts, re-builds or project costs, and adherence to budgeted cost parameters as required
Works with the Maintenance Supply Supervisor to maintain sufficient inventories of tools, parts and supplies to properly maintain the facility and property. May order and purchase supplies, equipment and contract work according to required purchasing and bidding procedures.
Solicits bids for outside contract work and schedules and supervises outside contractors
Works with the Maintenance Manager to hire, train and develop on-site maintenance employees according to company policy and procedure
Is responsible for counseling and reviewing maintenance employees as necessary and as required by company policy and procedure
Works with maintenance employees and other department Supervisors and managers to develop an effective, proactive team that works together to achieve facility objectives
Works with site engineering to maintain up to date facility and equipment drawings/maps that clearly identifies all utility cut-offs, the location of hydrants, gas mains and any other property safety information
Works with Maintenance Manager to conduct regular on-site safety meetings and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), Workers' Compensation and Hazard Communications. Ensures that all hazardous materials are properly labeled, stored, and handled
Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to electrical and instrumentation maintenance are in compliance at all times
skills/qualifications required:
A bachelor's degree in a related discipline is preferred or 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or maintenance leadership role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required
At minimum, 5 years of experience working in a maintenance department or field service group that has supported manufacturing sites is required
Computer Skills required:
CMMS systems
Spread sheet and Word Processing (Microsoft)
Project Management software (MS Project) a plus
Able to communicate clearly and effectively with mechanics, operators, vendors, OEM suppliers, and management personnel
Able to perform cost analysis and work within a structural budget
Strong interpersonal communication skills, able to deliver a clear and concise presentation when required, can lead meetings, and can deliver hard conversations
Systematic problem solver, implementing solutions to solve root cause
Able to handle multiple complex priorities and balance the needs of each according to the business impact
Ability to read schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, and P&IDs
Capital project management experience is a plus
Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
working conditions and physical requirements:
Ability to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods or time
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Reaching/bending as necessary to service equipment
Exposure to industrial hazards (plant systems)
food safety requirements:
Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety
Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas
Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company
Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system
Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system
Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required
