Industrial Mechanic (Mechanical/Electrical)

A well-established manufacturing company in Suffolk County is seeking a hands-on, experienced Industrial Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This role involves both mechanical and electrical responsibilities, supporting daily operations by maintaining and repairing a wide range of production and packaging equipment. salary: $62,400 - $79,040 per year

work hours: 7 AM - 4 PM

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical components such as belts, chains, bearings, pulleys, gears, rollers, and shafts .
  
  
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production and packaging equipment to reduce downtime.
  
  
• Repair and maintain conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  
  
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment for servicing or overhaul.
  
  
• Align and tension drive systems, adjust guides, and ensure proper function of moving parts.
  
  
• Troubleshoot and repair 480V 3-phase systems , motors, starters, VFDs, and control panels.
  
  
• Install new electrical components and assist in wiring new machinery.
  
  
• Diagnose and repair issues with sensors, relays, switches, limit switches, and safety interlocks.
  
  
• Interpret and follow electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and OEM manuals.
  
  
• Maintain and repair automated packaging machinery , such as form-fill-seal machines, labeling systems, case erectors, stretch wrappers, and palletizers.
  
  
• Adjust machines for different product runs and perform minor modifications or upgrades.
  
  
• Support production staff with quick setups and changeovers to reduce downtime.
  
  
• Use hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinders, and diagnostic instruments daily.
  
  
• Perform basic welding (MIG, stick, or TIG) and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment and guards.
  
  
• Operate shop tools to fabricate brackets, guards, supports, and custom machine components.
