Project Superintendent

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Superintendent to lead field operations on civil construction projects, with a focus on underground utilities and earthworks. This role is ideal for a results-driven leader who excels at managing crews, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Youll play a key role in planning, execution, and team development while upholding the companys core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability, and success.

Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with company safety policies, WorkSafe regulations, and industry standards.
  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture across all job sites.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members operate in a safe and compliant manner.
Scheduling & Planning
  • Participate in bid reviews and pre-construction planning meetings.
  • Direct and coordinate field personnel to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure Foremen and Lead Hands fully understand project scope and execution plans.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractor activities on-site.
  • Develop work plans and schedules, identifying resource, material, and equipment needs.
  • Proactively plan ahead to eliminate schedule roadblocks.
  • Review project status reports and adjust plans as needed.
Labour & Team Management
  • Supervise and support Project Foremen and key field staff, including scheduling and vacation approvals.
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to field teams.
  • Identify and recommend new hires to the Operations Manager and VP.
  • Mentor and develop team members to support their career growth.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions when necessary, in alignment with company policies and COR standards.
  • Ensure the right personnel are assigned to the right tasks.
  • Liaise with Operations Manager on all personnel matters.
Materials & Equipment
  • Interpret drawings and blueprints to assess material and equipment needs.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet safety, schedule, budget, and quality goals.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to assess equipment and resource needs.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in civil construction, including underground utilities and earthworks.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Proven ability to manage complex construction projects and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Skilled in scheduling, planning, and interpreting job cost reports.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
