Description

Job Summary: Researches, designs and develops, various types of HVAC equipment, Products and systems.

Essential Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Uses computer design software (CAD) to develop models and drawings.
  • Generate conceptual and preliminary drawings to be used for development of product.
  • Maintain existing engineering records and designs.
  • Assess engineering designs and prototypes to determine issues or risks.
  • Estimate cost impact for new designs.
  • Develop testing prototypes.
  • Keeps up with the processing of orders in house (SPAS).
  • Confers with engineering management to complete assigned projects.
  • An Engineer who has participated in HVAC&R projects before, either at AAON or other companies.
  • This Engineer has interacted with technicians and managers, has shown good technical and interpersonal skills and is expected to start handling medium-sized projects.
  • Is able to produce written reports, updates and presentations that convey the status of his/her projects.
  • Collaborates with Engineers, management, and other creative departments to determine design solutions.
  • Provides complete bill of material by defining when, where, and why parts are used.
  • Maintains and builds professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional societies.
  • Travels, when necessary, for field issues or product development at other AAON plants.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical experience in the field of HVAC & R (an advanced degree in a relevant field could be considered toward experience) Minimum of 3-5 years in the HVAC industry or equivalent experience in similar industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communicates effectively in written and spoken form.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Exhibits good decision making and analytical problem solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced high pressure environment.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily works in a professional, office environment.
  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs unassisted.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally as needed.
  • Work may require periodic visits to a manufacturing facility with exposure to loud noises, seasonal hot and cold temperatures, dust, and chemical fumes.
