Mig Welder Job Description Join our team as a Mig Welder where you will engage in horizontal and vertical MIG welding on a variety of materials, predominantly aluminum, with some work involving steel and stainless steel. You will handle welds ranging from 18-gauge to 3/8". Occasionally, you will perform TIG welding as required and utilize various wire types including .360, 4043, and 5356, with .035 used on occasion. Your role will also involve inspecting your own welds using visual methods, with some welds requiring certification. Responsibilities Perform horizontal and vertical MIG welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. Handle welds ranging from 18-gauge to 3/8". Utilize .360, 4043, 5356, and .035 wires as needed. Conduct occasional TIG welding tasks. Inspect welds visually and ensure certification where required. Collaborate with a shift team of 4-5 welders. Essential Skills 1+ year of welding experience (either school or on-the-job). Ability to read weld blueprints and symbols. Additional Skills & Qualifications 3+ years of welding experience (either school or on-the-job) is a plus. Proficiency in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and fabrication is advantageous. Work Environment This role is based in a large manufacturing facility with a focus on building products. The facility, while not the cleanest, is renowned for its strong culture and team-first mentality, with a lot of tenure in the fabrication areas. You will have your own welding area/bay on the manufacturing floor, with all necessary welding equipment provided, except for helmets. Please note, this is a no-smoking facility. The work is primarily production-style, focusing on products like access doors, entrance grates, and stair treads. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
